We have scheduled the joint Brambleton Model Railway Club and West Herts Area 16mm Group annual BBQ for the 5th July 2025. This year we will make this a special event to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of train travel since 1825 (Railway 200).
To this end we have decided to embrace the efforts of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway 200 wheels event and perform some tasks along the 200 wheel principle. From the 16mm side we hope to assemble a cavalcade of mostly steam locomotives to have 200 wheels travel 200 yards around the Brambleton track. Steam and battery powered diesel locomotives will be coupled together and these can be powered or un-powered. Any participating locomotive tender wheels will also count towards the 200 wheel total. A similar effort will be attempted on the O-gauge track together with an attempt to complete 200 O-gauge circuits during the day.
Preliminary efforts have commenced to organise these events to ensure it can be attempted and to give us the best chance of success. These efforts will intensify around the beginning of June resulting in a roster of operators and locomotives who will attempt the run together with a reserve list to cover any failures or none runners.
